Shireen Baghestani is a PhD student in the Applied Linguistics and Technology program with interests in language testing and corpus linguistics. Prior to joining Iowa State, she worked as an item writer and rater for multiple international English language tests. Her research interests include rater bias in assessment scoring, rubric creation, and test validation. She is excited to learn more about statistics, corpus linguistics, and assessment-related technologies and apply this knowledge towards the continued development of fair and valid language tests.
